European ALMA school at Leiden Observatory

The 2nd European ALMA school will be hosted by the Allegro ARC node and organised by the European ALMA Regional Centre network.
The school will be held at Leiden Observatory in Leiden in the Netherlands, from 26.01.2026 to 30.01.2026.
A preliminary block schedule can be found HERE. Lecture and tutorials will cover a broad range of topics related to ALMA: basics of interferometry, data calibration, imaging, working with the ALMA archive, and future ALMA developments — with special sessions on topics like data calibration, VLBI, and polarization.
–Who is this for? Beginner and intermediate ALMA users (primarily PhD students and postdocs), with introduction into advanced analysis.
–What will I learn? We will cover a broad range of aspects related to ALMA: interferometry, data calibration, synthesis imaging, exploiting the ALMA archive, analysis techniques, and future ALMA developments.
–Where can I sign up? Registration is full. If you are interested but not registered yet, please fill out the registration form before 31 October and we will put you on a waiting list. Do not pay the registration fee yet if you are on the waiting list! We will contact the waiting list in November. The registration fee is EUR 75.

If you are on the waiting list, do not pay the registration fee yet. We will be in contact with you in November. If you registered before we reached capacity, the registration fee can be paid HERE. The registration fee does NOT cover travel or lodging; attendees need to arrange for their own accommodation and travel. If you registered before we reached capacity but have not paid the registration fee, please do so by 31 October; we will start offering unpaid spots to wait-listed folks early in November.
Accommodation
A block reservation has been made at Fletcher Hotel Leiden. You can book these rooms via email.

* Students should make a reservation themselves by sending an email to banquetsales@wellnesshotelleiden.nl, using reservation code ALMA250126-FH113 Universiteit Leiden in the subject. Include full name, dates, number of guests, and whether breakfast is needed in your message.
* Participants pay the costs themselves
* 1-person occupancy: €113.50 per night per room, excl. breakfast and €3.50 tourist tax per person per night. Breakfast can be added for €18.50 per person per day
* 2-person occupancy : €135.50 per night per room, excl. breakfast and €3.50 tourist tax per person per night. Breakfast can be added for €18.50 per person per day. Please note that this is a double bed and cannot be separated. Hotel can provide separate duvets, but please mention this when booking. Depending on availability, a separate sofa bed can be arranged for a surcharge of €15 per night.
Other hotels near the Leiden train station are a 20 minute walk, or a short bus or bike ride, from the venue. Ibis Leiden Centre, Intercity Hotel Leiden, and Golden Tulip are good options.
Travel
Leiden is easy to reach by plane or train. We especially encourage those who can to take the train; both Rotterdam and Amsterdam have connections to many major cities and are a short ride away from Leiden. We are happy to answer travel questions, and will update the website with tips as we get closer to January.
